College Scholarship Opportunities
Eligibility
Awarded to an individual who is pursuing an education in a hospitality-related field including, but not limited to, culinary arts, hotel management, restaurant management, golf course management, tennis club management, or tourism marketing.
Funding
There will be a total of up to $6,000 available to be distributed to one student for a four-year degree and a total of up to $3,000 for a two-year degree. Upon written verification from the college that the student has been accepted, enrolled, confirmation of current GPA, and invoice received, checks will be made payable to the college. Funding is for tuition only and for the current semester.
For a student earning a four-year degree, $6,000 will be available and paid $1,500 annually in equal increments for each semester/quarter enrolled. For a student earning a two-year degree, $3,000 will be available and paid $1,500 annually in equal increments for each semester/quarter enrolled.
Qualifications
Awarded to a person employed currently by the hospitality industry, a current employee’s spouse, or a dependent of an employee currently working in the hospitality industry
- and -
A current senior or high school graduate planning to major in the hospitality field and attend an accredited two or four year college or university
- or -
An employee currently working in the hospitality field
- and -
pursuing a major in the hospitality field and attending an accredited two- or four- year college or university
- or -
Individual currently enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college or university pursuing a major in the hospitality field. Community activities and involvement will be considered.
Terms
- Scholarship awarded contingent upon written acceptance to a two- or four- year college or university
- Official high school or current college transcripts with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the college.
- Upon completion of each semester at the college, the student must provide written verification from the college of cumulative GPA and of acceptance for the following semester.
- Failure to maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA will result in forfeiture of $375 funding for the upcoming semester and will continue until students’ grades return to 3.0. The scholarship will be held for two semesters in an effort for student to return to 3.0 GPA. At this time, the $375 semester funding will be reinstated, but will not be retroactive. All scholarship funding will be forfeited after two semesters if the GPA is not returned to 3.0.
- A student electing not to return a semester will forfeit funding for that semester. Once a student returns and has meet all qualifications, funding of $375 semester will resume, but will not be retroactive. For the student to remain eligible to receive the scholarship, funding will be held for two semesters for students to return to class. All scholarship funding will be forfeited after two semesters if the student has not enrolled in classes.
Additional Requirements
- A 250-word, typed essay by the student describing why he/she should be considered for this scholarship must accompany the application
- Two letters of recommendation from any two of the following
- School Official
- Current Employer
- Personal reference from some one other than a relative
